Lesson 11 · a full-length PreACT 9 Math test · 45 minutes · calculator allowed
The same 34 skills, in the same order, as ACT's free PreACT 9 Secure Math practice test, with new numbers and new contexts. Take it under real time, then use the results table to see which skills need work.
ACT's own PreACT 9 Secure Math section is 34 questions in 45 minutes, about 80 seconds a question (ACT, Preparing for PreACT 9 Secure). Every question here was written to match one question on ACT's untimed practice form: the same skill, form and difficulty, but none of its numbers. That makes it a good second attempt after the official practice test, or a first one if you'd rather save the official one for later.
How to take it
Start the timer (the button at the bottom). It counts up to 45:00 and shows two checkpoints: question 12 by 15:00 and question 23 by 30:00. If you're behind at a checkpoint, guess on anything that's taking too long and move on (Lesson 3).
Answer every question. There's no penalty for guessing, so a blank is always worse than a guess.
Use the work space under each question, or scrap paper. A calculator is allowed, just as on the real test, but most questions go faster without one.
Check answers when you're done. Each question then shows the answer and a worked explanation, and a table at the bottom groups your results by skill. When time ran out, the timer noted how many questions you'd answered, so you can see whether pacing cost you points.
Printing gives a clean paper copy without answers or explanations. Unless a question says otherwise, figures are not necessarily drawn to scale, they lie in a plane, "line" means a straight line, and "average" means the arithmetic mean.
After grading, with your student. Look at the results table first. A cluster of misses in one skill points to a lesson; misses spread across the last third of the test usually point to pacing. Then redo each missed question without looking at the explanation, and only open it if you're stuck. That second, effortful attempt is the one that makes the skill stick.
